The applause for coach Cuccarini's girls is not enough. The defeat in Scandicci relegates the team to the penultimate position in the standings, right in the relegation zone
Scandicci wins against Caserta, at the end of a match that lasted at least the first two sets. Coach Cuccarini and the players leave this Tuscan trip to applause, but still losers. The first set can easily be described as one of regrets for the Dragons. There were four chances to close out the set, but Scandicci held firm four times and finally secured a partial victory in deuce. The home team's serve brought it to the table: on a no-comment reception, Lubian reached out with her big hands to the net to put away the point, 28-26. Caserta didn't give up and continued to lead in the second set. There were moments of absolute silence when Cruz remained still and motionless, in the middle of a hard-fought rally, after an (unintentional) knee from Simon. The Caserta player was forced to retire following the blow. At the decisive moment of the set, Scandicci, and Stysiak in particular, once again struck aces, finally breaking the deadlock. Pietrini put the match to bed with a winning attack at 25-23. The third set even gave Scandicci a point with Malinov's foot, making everything easy for Savino Del Bene. Bricio was the match's top scorer, notably with six aces. Coach Cuccarini and his players were applauded but returned home with yet another defeat, second to last and firmly in the relegation zone.
