War for security in the premises of Salerno: among those arrested there is also a prison officer from Secondigliano

They were willing to do anything to gain control of the security of the nightclubs in the Sele Plain and the city of Salerno. Even planning to kill the owner of another agency operating in the same sector. This morning, five people were reached by a precautionary custody order (two in prison and three under house arrest) executed by the Carabinieri of the investigative unit of the provincial command of Salerno, led by Colonel Gianluca Trombetti. They are held responsible for continued and aggravated illicit competition in commerce, through intimidating and violent actions, using mafia methods, to impose their services. Two of them will also have to answer for the possession and carrying of an illegal firearm. Among those under house arrest is a prison police officer serving in Secondigliano. The agent, according to the deputy prosecutor of the DDA, Vincenzo Senatore, "from what we have ascertained on the basis of interception activities, shared the activities carried out and was fully organic to this group that we have identified". According to the Public Prosecutor's Office of Salerno, the suspects "carried out expeditions aimed at establishing a climate of terror among the managers of the night clubs, which ended only by complying with the requests to use their staff to ensure the peaceful running of the evenings outside and inside the clubs of the Battipaglia and Salerno nightlife". With blows, punches and slaps the group tried to get hold of the security service in the night clubs of Battipaglia, also exploiting the intimidating power dictated by the criminal career of one of the members. On one occasion, then, as explained on the sidelines by the deputy prosecutor, Vincenzo Senatore, there had been "an overstepping of jurisdiction by those from Salerno" which had provoked a violent reaction from the Piana del Sele group. After that episode, the killing of the owner of the competing agency was allegedly planned, "but not carried out due to the voluntary desistance of the man in charge of the murder". The investigation stems from an investigation by the Public Prosecutor's Office of Nocera Inferiore into the distribution of anabolics in gyms, from which other conduct was subsequently discovered. Investigators also had to deal with a lack of cooperation. “We interviewed three or four of the owners of some of the most important commercial businesses in the area and unfortunately we had no collaboration,” explained Deputy Prosecutor Senatore. We can understand this attitude because it is evidently a consequence of the intimidating ability of the individuals we arrested today." Among those under investigation at large are three business owners and a Romanian citizen, considered by investigators to be a thug.
