With the meeting with the national secretary, Nicola Zingaretti, which was held at the headquarters of the Democratic Party in Largo del Nazareno in Rome, the regional councilor of Campania, Maurizio Petracca, formalizes his membership in the Democratic Party. Petracca will therefore enter the council group of the Democratic Party at the Regional Council of Campania.
"Joining the Democratic Party - says regional councilor Maurizio Petracca - is a natural evolution of my political path that has found its strongest reference in the center-left, in line with the regional experience that I have been living since 2015. I am of the opinion that politics still needs parties and that it must necessarily be practiced within a party. This is why today I choose the Democratic Party, which is the engine of the center-left. My goal is, in fact, to give a political perspective and framework to the action that, together with a group of people, administrators but not only, we have been carrying out for some time now".
"Politics - explains Petracca - needs unity, sharing, solidarity. I could have made a different choice, a choice of convenience, that of civic spirit, which often corresponds to the indistinct politics, typical of individual, solitary paths. Politics is something else. I am, therefore, of the idea that the time has come to take on more responsibility, within a party. And in a field that is diametrically opposed to that of populism and sovereignism, of demagogic instrumentalities and hatred elevated to ideology".
"My membership in the Democratic Party - adds the regional councilor - is not only mine, but that of a group that will be able to give the party an important contribution in terms of ideas, proposals: with me, administrators will join who will bring their contribution in terms of administrative experience and then there will be the young energies of those who are approaching politics for the first time and do so with enthusiasm and passion. I am honored to be the reference for this group. Together we made this choice in a totally shared path and in which discussion has never been lacking. We reflected together and together we decided".
"My choice - concludes Maurizio Petracca - intersects a delicate phase for the Democratic Party, with the ongoing membership drive, the politically unprecedented and certainly not easy government experience, the regional elections at the door. My idea is to enrich the PD thanks to new energies, to contribute so that the party moves towards a perspective of greater internal stability, but also of greater incisiveness on the front of content, themes, questions on which the party's presence must increasingly characterize, at all levels, from local to national. I am sure that it will be a great challenge for all of us, for those who still believe in politics understood as the primacy of the proposal and as the basis of concrete and effective action".
