The Golden Gala is changing venue, at least for 2020. The athletics meeting will not be held at the Stadio Olimpico due to construction work being carried out there in preparation for the European Football Championships. An alternative venue has long been identified in the Milan Arena, where track resurfacing work is underway. Work is on schedule and is expected to be completed in April. "The layout of a venue hosting a Diamond League meeting like the Golden Gala," emphasizes FIDAL President Alfio Giomi, "requires requirements that are not easy to meet in a facility with the constraints of the Arena. In this regard, in full agreement with the City Council, we are evaluating the risk that everything may not be ready by May 28th. To this end, informal contacts have been made in Naples and Florence as alternative venues for the 2020 Golden Gala."
