Calitri. The Carabinieri of the Lacedonia Forestry Station, following checks on dairy companies carried out together with colleagues from the Volturara Irpina Forestry Station and the Calitri Station, have reported to the Public Prosecutor's Office of Avellino an entrepreneur considered responsible for Adulteration and counterfeiting of food substances and illegal management of waste.
Specifically, the inspection of a farm in Calitri revealed clear critical issues in terms of health and hygiene as well as the illegal disposal of wastewater from both the processing of dairy products and from cattle and horse breeding at the same farm. In particular, the illegal management of zootechnical wastewater and waste consisting of whey and washing water from the processing of dairy products was ascertained, which were dumped directly on the ground as the respective collection tanks were overflowing.
Furthermore, the premises where approximately eighty caciocavallo cheeses were stored did not have the required health authorisation.
The inspection access also allowed us to observe interventions modifying and tampering with the natural morphology of the land so as to invade the underlying riverbed.
In relation to the aforementioned violations, the operators have seized the shed (with the respective cattle and horse breeding), the two tanks used as manure heaps for the storage of liquid waste from the breeding, the shed used as a dairy, a tank for collecting waste consisting of whey and washing water from the processing of dairy products, as well as the shed where the aforementioned caciocavallo cheeses were stored.
The value of the seized goods is approximately 600 thousand euros.
At the same time, administrative sanctions were imposed for a total amount of 11 thousand euros.
