A large fire has broken out at the construction site for the new Genoa bridge. Material caught fire inside Pier 13 of the new structure. Five firefighting teams are responding to the scene. The flames have engulfed the entire pier. No injuries have been reported so far. Via Fillak has been closed to traffic to allow for safe operations. According to the firefighters and police, the fire started from a hose used by a worker, sparks from which struck some polystyrene. Firefighters used a ladder truck to reach the source of the fire, which is now under control. The incident will cause further delays in the work. In recent weeks, Mayor Marco Bucci had already announced a delay in completing the works of approximately a month and a half.
