On Saturday, December 21, 2019, starting at 9:30 PM, the Club 33 Giri cultural association will host a surprising band from Campania, acclaimed by critics and audiences alike: Klippa Kloppa. The band will present their album, "Liberty," released in September of this year. The concert will be held at the association's headquarters on Via Perla (Central Park, at the intersection of Via Jan Palach) in Santa Maria Capua Vetere (Caserta). The opening act will be Neapolitan singer-songwriter Pedar.
Klippa Kloppa will take the stage of the Sammaritan association on Saturday 21 December 2019 for a special live presentation of their latest album. The band was born in Naples, at the end of the 2003s, from the meeting between Nicola Mazzocca and Marco Di Gennaro from Caserta, who were joined over time by Simone Caputo, Mariano Calazzo and Mariella Capobianco. After the first self-productions, in XNUMX Snowdonia Dischi published their debut album, which also includes the Tottemo Godzilla Riders project. Since then, many albums, many EPs, a box set for the first ten years of activity, meetings and collaborations, crossing genres and experimenting with forms and styles, vocal and instrumental.
After years of incessant research between pop and avant-experimental sounds, and a bit of silence, Klippa Kloppa are back with 35 minutes of songs in Italian. “Liberty” is an absolutely disconcerting album, surprising and full of the most diverse suggestions. Musical craftsmanship that reinterprets the song form, between electric surges and percussive frenzies, intimate instrumental passages and magnetic propulsive basses. Melodies, bold and naive at the same time, overflowing with voices, stretch the metrics of disenchanted verses, collecting assonances, deliriums, memories, still lifes, fears and hopes. The taste for stylistic pastiche, which has always accompanied Klippa Kloppa, is a constant that the Liberty tracklist reflects without interruption.
The lyrics were all written by Mariella Capobianco and this makes “Liberty” a very abstract album, because its poetics are a bit removed from everyday life. The album by the five musicians from Caserta, Mariano Calazzo, Mariella Capobianco, Simone Caputo, Marco Di Gennaro and Nicola Mazzocca, was released last September and immediately intrigued the most attentive music critics, who placed “Liberty” among the best albums of the year. Klippa Kloppa’s live performance promises to be surprising, exciting and striking.
