The Guardia di Finanza of Marcianise, as part of the economic control activity of the territory aimed at identifying factories not declared to the tax authorities, yesterday discovered a completely illegal laboratory located in Marcianise and used for the production of counterfeit jewelry branded "PANDORA". The premises had been set up with all the machinery necessary for the illicit reproduction and packaging of the jewelry. An "illegal" worker was also identified.
Everything was taken care of down to the smallest details: in fact, 34 rubber casts were found used to reproduce, with characteristics identical to the originals, the famous PANDORA charms, small silver jewels with which to compose personalized bracelets. Among the charms present there were also some proposed by PANDORA in a limited edition for the upcoming Christmas holidays. To give further proof to consumers of the authenticity of the goods, then, the manager, MD, a 41-year-old from Casoria, had also reproduced with the same counterfeit brand the packaging of the jewels (boxes, bags, ribbons) and even the certificate of authenticity issued by the company.
At the end of the operations, the financial police seized all the industrial machinery used for the processing of the jewels and over 12.000 pieces bearing industrial designs and/or the counterfeit logo, of which approximately 4.000 jewels and over 8.000 items for their packaging, ready to invade the national parallel market, for an illicit profit, relating only to the goods found at the time of the intervention, estimated at around 200.000 euros.
The person responsible, who was unable to demonstrate the authorization by the parent company to reproduce the jewels or to justify the legitimate origin of the material in his possession, was reported to the Public Prosecutor's Office of Santa Maria Capua Vetere for the alleged crimes of receiving stolen goods and counterfeiting.
Therefore, significant damage to the brand has been averted, especially during the strong sales peaks linked to Christmas; furthermore, the good faith and health of consumers has been protected, concretely endangered by the use of unsafe chemical substances and materials lacking the health certifications required by law.
The investigations continue in order to reconstruct the entire counterfeiting chain, starting from the supply chain of the materials up to the retail sales network, so as to reconstruct the entire turnover of the counterfeiters and recover the proceeds of the entire illicit activity through taxation.
Today's result is the fruit of the constant presence of the financial police on the territory and testifies to the operational effort of the Corps in disarticulating the dangerous phenomenon of trademark counterfeiting, a multiplier of illegality that fuels the circuits of black labor, clandestine immigration, tax evasion and money laundering.
