'The Igp hazelnut of Giffoni' on the benches of Parliament: meeting-tasting at the Chamber of Deputies

From 12 to 15, a tasting of IGP hazelnut-based products, which will take place in the antechamber of the Chamber's restaurant, with the aim of making people appreciate the various preparations in which this gastronomic excellence is used; then, at 19, a press conference

The Giffoni Igp hazelnut will be the protagonist at the Chamber of Deputies. The event organized for December 19th at Montecitorio on the theme “The Giffoni Igp Hazelnut, community protections and market prospects” will be a topic of discussion about excellent gastronomy, but also about issues related to production and brand protection. The initiative, promoted by parliamentarian Anna Bilotti, a member of the 5 Star Movement originally from Giffoni Valle Piana, will be divided into two parts: from 12 to 15, a tasting of products based on Igp hazelnuts, which will take place in the antechamber of the Chamber restaurant, with the aim of making people appreciate the various preparations in which this gastronomic excellence is used; then, at 19, a press conference with the participation of politicians and experts in the sector, to analyze the prospects and critical issues of the sector.

The meetings will be attended, among others, by the president of the Agriculture Committee of the Chamber, the Honorable Filippo Gallinella, who will be given a dossier with requests and suggestions to improve the protection of the local product and support the commitment of producers and processors of the IGP hazelnut. "We will talk about an excellent Campania product in a prestigious location, in the heart of the Institutions, in the presence of political representatives, mayors of the area involved, producers, preparers and journalists, including those from the food and wine press - explains Bilotti - The Italian hazelnut, not only the Campania one, represents a gastronomic and cultural heritage to be protected in every corner of the world. I believe that every effort, including legislative, must be made to guarantee maximum recognisability for every actor in the supply chain, from the smallest of farmers to the international consumer".
