The Municipal Operations Centre (COC) met this afternoon at the Palazzo di Città in Salerno to monitor the critical issues caused by the bad weather that hit the city today. The meeting was attended by the Mayor of Salerno Vincenzo Napoli, councillors and municipal councillors, officers of the Municipal Police and the Civil protection. Landslides have been reported in various areas of the city's hilly neighborhoods. The most significant one was in Casa Manzo, where a family was evacuated. Other landslides occurred in Giovi Bottiglieri and Giovi San Nicola, where a lamppost fell: personnel from the Electricity Board intervened on site to remove and restore power. A landslide also occurred in Viale dei Tigli. Flooding affected the Brignano neighborhood, where "Salerno Sistemi" intervened. In Via Ripa di Sordina, a torrent overflowed, involving a car. Other torrents and city waterways have swollen, but are currently below the warning level. City parks and villas have been closed, as well as the Monumental Cemetery. The Villa Comunale is open, but under constant observation. The underpasses, closed yesterday, are currently all open (except the one in via Limongelli) but are constantly monitored. The COC is convened for tomorrow morning at 9 at the Town Hall.
He was on his land in the hamlet of Giovi di Salerno trying to contain the damage caused by bad weather when a landslide invaded the area of his property. Thus, the Councilor for the Budget of the Municipality of Salerno, Luigi Carmelo Della Greca, ended up in hospital. A great scare followed by a necessary check-up by the team of doctors from San Giovanni di Dio and Ruggi d'Aragona. "Nothing particularly serious", they say from Palazzo di Città.
