Yesterday evening, December 29, a report came through a video shot by a citizen of a serious and reckless act of vandalism that occurred in Piazza del Municipio in Naples.
The video recording shows several scooters, with three passengers on board, all without helmets, speeding through the pedestrian area of the aforementioned square, surrounding and frightening a group of children who were hanging out in the area.
"What happened last night is a manifestation of the social, mental and educational degradation that our city is undergoing. It is not just a prank, a prank, in fact we should stop using these terms, by doing so we justify this type of act, but it is an act of vandalism in all respects. Our streets must be safe, at all hours, in every neighborhood and for everyone, from children to the elderly. In order to make our city safe, we must prevent and repress any type of criminal act, through more control of the territory, with video cameras, with severe punishments and through an adequate education program that must start, first of all, with parents." - these are the words of the Regional Councilor of the Greens Francesco Emilio Borrelli regarding the event in Piazza Municipio.
