Naples. The recent severe weather has created an emergency situation that remains unresolved outside the San Paolo Hospital in Fuorigrotta. Despite numerous reports from unions to the health management in recent months, there is a safety issue affecting the gardens and greenery surrounding the hospital, particularly the risk of trees falling on the premises. "We ask General Director Ciro Verdoliva to intervene promptly and decisively on this issue before a more dangerous incident occurs," wrote FIALS Secretary Lello Pavone. He then added: "We therefore ask, given the presence at the hospital of several workers, surveyors, and engineers who are carrying out inspections, and given the enormous budget allocated to the Fuorigrotta facility for its renovation and expansion, that priority be given to the safety of all the external spaces surrounding the facility, while also seeking to find and organize a suitable space to finally build a parking lot for employees' cars. The new San Paolo hospital must be built with a modern vision that involves efficient and effective interventions that serve both workers and patients. We have promoted, in addition to the safety of the external and internal spaces, a renovation of the entire facility, its beautification, and its expansion, for example by building two additional areas/departments on the new operating block, which, among other things, were and have already been planned and authorized, when the operating block structure was built. This would be a solution that would save time, financial resources, and could definitively relaunch the hospital."
