The Carabinieri are continuing their operations in the city and province this weekend, as part of services arranged by the Provincial Command of Naples. The checks carried out amount to 371 vehicles and 832 people – 160 of whom have a police record; 77 traffic violations were reported – many of which for driving without a helmet and lack of insurance coverage.
The Carabinieri of the Vomero Operations Unit arrested a 29-year-old with no criminal record from the Arenella neighborhood for illegal possession of explosive material.
The military stopped and searched the 29-year-old because they were suspicious of his behavior: in his pockets 1 gram of hashish. After searching the house, the military found - in a storage room - 150 improvised explosive devices containing 7 and a half kilos of gunpowder. The arrested person is awaiting trial.
The 48-year-old man with no criminal record reported in Sant'Antonio Abate by the military of the Castellammare company for illegal possession of weapons. Without any authorization, the man had a Beretta 12-gauge over-and-under hunting shotgun in his home.
The two young men reported by the Carabinieri of the same company for complicity in receiving stolen goods are 18 and 19 years old respectively: they were driving around the streets of Castellammare on a moped that was stolen on December 15th. The vehicle was returned to its rightful owner.
In Piazza Arabia in Poggioreale, an illegal parking attendant was reported by the Carabinieri of the local station. The man, a 60-year-old from Ponticelli, had already been fined for the same violation. 3 young people were reported in the same neighborhood for driving without ever having obtained a license.
