The Naples Municipal Police today seized a massive amount of fireworks, weighing over a ton and with an explosive capacity exceeding 150 kg. Officers conducting patrols to crack down on the transportation, possession, and sale of fireworks classified as "dangerous," intercepted a rental van in the Rione Sanità neighborhood. The van, parked near a heavily populated building, had been loaded to capacity with explosives. The investigation led officers to SS, a 55-year-old Neapolitan, who, by order of the judicial authorities, has been charged at large. In total, over 300 batteries of 100 rounds each were seized. After counting and sampling, the batteries were handed over to the bomb disposal squad for subsequent destruction. "This year too," declared Municipal Police Councilor Alessandra Clemente, "our local police force is on the front lines fighting the sale of illegal fireworks. This work has led to a drastic reduction in accidents over the years. We all have a moral duty to refrain from purchasing these 'explosions' to avoid fueling criminal networks and to protect ourselves, our loved ones, and the many animals in our city."
