Regional Councilor of the Sole Che Ride party Francesco Emilio Borrelli and Fiorella Zabatta, a member of the national executive of the Greens, improvised an information point as an act of protest against the Superintendency that manages the Floridiana.
The monumental and arboreal complex, of enormous historical and cultural interest, has been closed to the public since December 23 due to a more precisely specified collapse of trees, with visitors only being informed by a sign hidden behind the gates, written only in Italian.
"Not even a resource like the tourism sector is being exploited and protected. Precisely during the Christmas season, when tourist influx is at its highest, the Superintendency keeps a place like the Floridiana closed, without providing explanations, installing a booth to provide information and alternative tourist routes, and without providing any assistance. How much will it take to remove fallen trees? We bet the situation will be resolved starting January 6th, that is, after the holidays are over. This is shameful," Borrelli and Zabatta attacked. "We provided assistance," the two representatives of Il Sole che Ride continued, "to residents and tourists, informing the latter of alternative routes. They were appalled by such behavior. We were ashamed of the Floridiana management, who saw fit to behave this way, leaving only a small information sign hidden behind the closed gate and written only in Italian. An unacceptable disgrace. We also realized that tourists, especially those who are completely confused about getting around Naples and the surrounding province, are lacking information points. Therefore, we decided to propose to the municipality and other local authorities that newsstands also be turned into information points, with a memorandum of understanding that would allow them to obtain tax relief on local taxes in exchange for the services they will be required to provide. This proposal would help this sector and provide a widespread service to tourism."
