Considering that 2019 was an important year for the rediscovery and promotion of one of the city of Gragnano's culinary excellences—wine—the Pro Loco of Gragnano decided to end the year on a high note by proposing a highly successful event that would further highlight Gragnano DOC wine: "Jazz & Wine... if it's not Gragnano, desist."
“Jazz & Wine…. if it’s not Gragnano, desist” – 2019 Edition – was organized thanks to the Grant from the Chamber of Commerce of Naples, obtained by participating in the Call for the implementation of initiatives for the economic and territorial promotion of the Province of Naples, in which the Pro Loco of Gragnano participated and ranked first for the quality of the project presented.
The event has as its primary objectives, in addition to the promotion of quality products, to attract more and more food and wine tourism, thanks to the fame of some typical products of our land, among which the Gragnano Wine excels.
“Jazz & Wine… if it's not Gragnano, desisti” will take place on the evenings of December 21 and 22, in the heart of Christmas 2019, and, obviously, will be held in Gragnano in Piazza Amendola (Piazza Ferrovia) and will also benefit from the Patronage of the Ente Parco dei Monti Lattari and the Municipality of Gragnano.
“The event will be attended exclusively by producers of Gragnano Doc wine,” explains architect Francesco Longobardi, president of the Pro Loco, “who will offer tastings of the “sparkling ruby red” that is so highly regarded today in Italian wine culture, but which was also so highly regarded in the past. Who doesn’t remember the great Totò in the famous film “Poverty and Nobility”… “and if it’s not Gragnano, give up!”
To accompany the Gragnano Doc wine, which will be the protagonist of the evenings, there will also be tastings of other native products of the lands of the Lattari Mountains, such as pasta cooked in different dishes, fior di latte, cheeses, tarallini, etc., all seasoned with excellent Jazz music that will make these two evenings even more enjoyable.
On the evening of Saturday, December 21, Tony Esposito and his Band will perform. Tony Esposito is an artist who in his music combines tribal sounds with Jazz, Funk and Soul, creating a real rhythmic sound, whose sounds enrich the many Jazz festivals that are in Italy.
On the evening of Sunday 22 December, always in the setting of Jazz music, the jazz group "The Caponi Brothers" will perform. A fresh and lively band, just like Gragnano Doc, born in 2016, from an idea of Giuseppe Di Capua, always passionate about the music of Carosone and the couple Totò and Peppino (the Caponi brothers that are us), icons of light-hearted and irreverent Neapolitanism
So, with “Jazz & Wine… if it’s not Gragnano, desisti”, we propose two unmissable evenings, with good wine and good Jazz, which we hope will be well attended”.
