Plastic-Free Schools the petition launched by Ossigeno Young to the Provincial Administration

Ossigeno Young launches the petition “Plastic-Free Schools”, to ask the Provincial Administration of Avellino to make the Irpinia High Schools free from plastic, adopting concrete measures: eco-sustainable vending machines; elimination, where possible, of plastic; provision of water bottles to students.
This is how the newly formed youth section, coordinated by Antonio Dello Iaco and Benedetta De Maio, of the Association chaired by Luca Cipriano, presents itself, urging a series of easy-to-implement actions. "Pollution is one of the most important plagues of our society and the excessive spread and dispersion of plastic represents one of the most worrying factors, which is why it is necessary to reverse the trend. We are slowly drowning in pollution. We are now submerged by waste and the conditions of the mountains that embrace our Irpinia, it must be said, are the plastic representation of this", explain the two coordinators of Ossigeno Young.

One of the “simplest” solutions to adopt would be the reduction of plastic pollution. Europe has launched long-term strategies to avoid its production and excessive use. From this year, the production of non-biodegradable cotton buds is banned, from 2020 the use of microplastics in cosmetics will be prohibited, while from 2021 disposable plates, cutlery and glasses will be banned, unless they are made exclusively with ecological materials.
The petition launched by Ossigeno Young is already active in various schools in Avellino, thanks to the commitment of the Institute representatives and will end in January. A few symbolic days to demonstrate how the student world is attentive to the issue of the environment and wants to change things.
"We are convinced - the promoters declare - that concrete actions are needed from everyone, especially from us young people who are the future.
