Portici. The ceiling on the 0th floor of the ASL Napoli Tre Sud RSA in via Gradoni collapsed: 5 long-term patients were relocated to distant locations, in a private facility, and the Family Committee blocked the transfer of about twenty. 40 physiatric workers and entertainers are out of work. Meanwhile, the ASL Napoli Tre Sud facilities in Torre del Greco and Ottaviano are unused. The Director does not show up for the meeting and the Mayor: I can't do anything about it
It happened in the facility, directed by Dr. Antonio Coppola, where, in addition to the direct employees of ASL Napoli Tre Sud, Portici district, two cooperatives work to provide assistance to long-term patients: Gescia on the 0th floor, high level of assistance, and Nuova SATR on the 35st floor, with a total of about forty operators, physiatrists and entertainers. In the facility, Alzheimer's patients or people who are not autonomous and cannot walk have also been hospitalized for years for very serious pathologies. There are 0 patients who need care and to recognize the operators who assist them. On Sunday there was a collapse on the 5th floor which made part of the facility unusable and therefore it was necessary to transfer the patients. 20 were transferred to Scisciano and 3 are waiting for a possible transfer to Madonna dell'Arco even if the Family Committee has prevented other inadequate sortings. Both are or will be transferred to private facilities in agreement with ASL Napoli XNUMX Sud. This morning the patients' relatives formed a Committee and its spokesperson Alessandra Poli declared: "My mother has been hospitalized like the other patients for over two years and recognizes and interacts with the facility's healthcare staff because by now, despite her serious pathologies, they are in symbiosis. The transfer to distant places between walls and unrecognizable faces could create a clear worsening of her already precarious conditions".
Yesterday the Director of the Portici District did not show up for the scheduled meeting with the family. The Mayor of Portici, always present at the demonstrations and events organized in the facility, yesterday responded: "the facility was donated by a private individual to the ASL, I can't do anything"
While the relatives have blocked the transfer of 5 other patients today, they are waiting and ready, together with the 40 assistants who currently remain without work, to give battle.
