A lit fireplace, a mother with an open book, children listening: this too is
a very beautiful image of these festive days, reading a fairy tale has always been a
magical moment for many children, who through these stories can dream stories
wonderful in fantasy worlds.
It is with this spirit that Poste Italiane wanted to celebrate some of the best-known fairy tales,
precisely through a nice game of stamps. We cannot help but start from the Italian fable to
excellence, that of Pinocchio. Thanks to a stamp issued on May 7, 2010 for the series
“Europe 2010: children's books”, the most famous puppet in the world, created by fantasy and
pen of Carlo Lorenzini known as Collodi, is celebrated in a very cheerful stamp, with bright colours
lively, which conveys the carefree way of life that has characterized many of his
adventures.
The celebration of another fairy tale, that of Little Red Riding Hood, is also very significant, through
a stamp dated December 7, 1975 issued within the series of commemorative stamps of the
“XVII Stamp Day”. The peculiarity of this issue is that the sketch is
was entrusted to the art of the kids of a middle school, who were able to tell the tale
through their most spontaneous intuitions, without getting lost in the subtleties of adults.
Alice in Wonderland could not be missed, a fairy tale celebrated on a stamp of
1976, whose cartoon is full of cute animals and was always drawn by the students of the
middle school.
To continue to stimulate the imagination and creativity of the little ones, Poste Italiane has proposed a
new initiative dedicated just to them, inviting them to send a drawing of a character from the
their favorite fairy tale at the address “Draw your favorite fairy tale – I Fatti Vostri – Via Teulada 66 –
00195 Rome”. Who knows, maybe their imagination could create a stamp for the year
new!
