The Guardia di Finanza investigation, which recently uncovered fraudsters using the Citizen's Income program, has uncovered further "interesting" details for investigative and journalistic purposes. The measure, which Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte claims has reduced absolute poverty by 60%, reveals the widespread misuse of the yellow card. The latest cases were recorded in the provinces of Naples and Caserta: 64 reports were filed with the judicial authorities and 16 with the National Institute of Social Security (INPS) for the suspension of the economic benefit.
The checks carried out by the Finance Police revealed that around forty people who were receiving the citizen's income actually had a job, albeit undeclared. A hashish dealer was even discovered, but what caused the most outcry was the anomalous number of bottles of Dom Perignon, bought for 150 euros each with the yellow card in a neighborhood of Naples. This is actually more of an anomaly than an irregularity, but it does suggest that there is a trick underneath. Like that of the 'poor' entrepreneur from the Alvignano area who, after having sold his shares in the dairy to his relatives, received the citizen's income and drove around in a Maserati. In the meantime, they have all been reported to the INPS, with the hope that for them the gravy train at the expense of the Italians is over.
