Rai 1 kicks off the new year for the third consecutive year with "Danza con me," Roberto Bolle's show, airing Wednesday, January 1st in prime time. This traditional yet ever-changing program has reached a diverse and new audience, achieving incredible ratings and critical acclaim. In 2018, it won the prestigious international Rose D'Or award for best European entertainment program, a source of pride for Italian television as a whole.
This year, "Danza con me"—a Rai1 production in collaboration with Ballandi and Artedanza srl—once again focuses entirely on Italian art and excellence, with a unique blend of dance and irony, classicism and innovation, in true Roberto Bolle style. Bolle is not only the star of this show, but also the creator and artistic director of the format. An extraordinary cast enriches this new edition, featuring guests from the worlds of international dance, film, theater, and music.
The story is told by the unusual duo of Giampaolo Morelli and Geppi Cucciari, who with irony narrate and present, explain, and participate. Many prestigious artists have chosen to participate in this ambitious and successful project, offering their contributions. For the first time on television, the trio that thrilled audiences this summer at the Arena Flegrea in Naples during OnDance—Bolle's annual dance festival—reunites: the star, Andrea Bocelli, and Stefano Bollani. Alongside Roberto, Nicoletta Manni, prima ballerina at Milan's La Scala, will perform one of the Tuscan tenor's greatest hits, accompanied by Bollani's piano.
The world of fairy tales, which inspires so much of dance, is represented by Roberto Benigni and Matteo Garrone, who have created an unforgettable film version of Pinocchio. To the music of Oscar-winning composer Dario Marianelli, composer of the Pinocchio soundtrack, Bolle once again thrills by recalling the magical universe of childhood and dreams. Virginia Raffaele, always surprising alongside the star, and the duo Luca and Paolo, in new and exhilarating roles, also return. For the first time, Alberto Angela and Luca Zingaretti contribute to the program, paying homage to the humanity of Charlie Chaplin. Music, always a key feature, is also represented by artists such as Nina Zilli, who will recall the fantastic 60s on television and in dance, and Marracash who, together with Cosmo, will have not only Bolle dance, but the young dancers of the Accademia Teatro alla Scala, once again center stage. All guests who play, dance, and experiment beyond genres and boundaries with mise en scène that open up new scenarios and possibilities for ballet.
