At Christmas, over 300 suspended dishes purchased by users on the app were multiplied by Just Eat to deliver 750 to those most in need, together with Caritas and the 50 participating restaurants in Milan, Turin, Rome, and Naples.
A resounding success, growing over the years and confirming the importance and credibility of the first solidarity food delivery project created by Just Eat in collaboration with 50 partner restaurants and the Caritas organizations of Milan, Turin, Rome, and this year, also Naples. In just 2 weeks since the launch of the initiative, over 300 suspended dishes have been purchased by users through the app to order food at home, a sign of generosity in favor of those facing difficult situations. English: A help that Just Eat believes in and for which it has been committed on the front line, doubling the suspended orders of rice, pasta, chicken, hamburgers, sandwiches and many other specialties available on the platform and requested at home, to arrive at delivering 750 suspended meals at home. The total number of dishes collected will be delivered on 17, 18 and 19 December, close to the International Day of Human Solidarity (20 December) and donated to guests and people in reception centers, soup kitchens and communities identified by Caritas Ambrosiana, Caritas Diocesana Torino, Caritas di Roma and Caritas di Napoli, thanks also to the collaboration of the restaurants and logistics partners, Pony U and Food Pony, for deliveries in the various cities. Food and digital thus demonstrate an even stronger bond in view of the Christmas holidays and, in this sense, the Ristorante Solidale project by Just Eat, and of which the Piatto Sospeso initiative is part, confirms the success of its commitment to raising awareness on the phenomenon of food waste and promoting social inclusion through solidarity actions. Together with the over 50 restaurants in Milan, Turin, Rome and Naples that are participating in the project, Piatto Sospeso is an initiative that is simple in its mechanics and big in its heart: in fact, to help those in need, from 2 to 15 December, users simply added a Piatto Sospeso worth 3,00, 4,00 or 5,00 euros to their order on Just Eat, choosing from many traditional Italian specialties or trends that come from far away and are increasingly popular in our country. People's solidarity is a virtuous behavior that Just Eat wanted to reward by doubling the quantities of dishes to donate to the centers and people identified with the initiative's partners. Among the restaurants involved in the initiative: Burger King in Rome, Naples and Turin, Maoji Street Food in Milan, Kombu in Turin and Milan, O'Sushi and Oca Nera in Naples, Miss Pizza in Rome, T-Bone Station in Rome and Turin, Rizzelli and Hamburgerie di Eataly in Turin, Tram-Laboratorio del Tramezzino Veneziano e Genuino in Milan and Pollo & Patate, Kokore and many others in Naples. “We are proud of the new result achieved by the Piatto Sospeso initiative, which in its new edition has become a real appointment with solidarity. Compared to 2018, Piatti Sospesi has grown, an indication that we have achieved the mission of spreading and promoting solidarity with concrete actions. Our commitment does not stop here, we set ourselves new and increasingly challenging goals and not only during the Christmas period. Solidarity goes hand in hand with a focus on virtuous behavior in the relationship with food, both for users and for restaurants" says Daniele Contini, Country Manager of Just Eat in Italy.
