After the seizure of weapons that occurred in recent days in Castel Volturno (CE), once again, on the evening of December 21, 2019, the State Police of the Caserta Police Headquarters, as part of the incessant services aimed at combating the phenomenon of predatory crimes during the Christmas holidays, arrested, in the act of the crimes of attempted murder with multiple aggravating factors in competition, resistance to violence with multiple aggravating factors in competition, possession of a clandestine weapon, possession and illegal carrying of common firearms in competition, DI SARNO SALVATORE, born in 1981, resident in the province of Salerno.
The same person is also reported at liberty for money laundering in competition, forgery of private material in administrative authorization in competition, receiving stolen goods in competition, alteration of a common firearm in competition, carrying outside the home of an instrument suitable for offending and illegal carrying of ammunition for a common firearm.
The judicial police activity saw its genesis in the context of an institutional service carried out by personnel of this Flying Squad, who, having learned from information channels about the presence of a criminal group dedicated to the commission of predatory crimes on board a “Fiat” brand car, gravitating in the province of Salerno, arranged an observation service aimed at identifying the aforementioned vehicle. Indeed, the aforementioned Fiat Punto was intercepted in the Pontecagnano area (Sa), therefore a shadowing service of the vehicle was undertaken.
The Operators decided to intervene to interrupt the criminal progression and block the “Fiat Punto” with simultaneous identification of the occupants. During the blocking action, the passenger, from inside the aforementioned “Fiat”, pointed a gun at the operators, who, after having ordered “police stop” and activated the “two-tone” siren on the service vehicles, in order to make the intervention of the Police clearly recognizable, fired no. 4 gunshots with the service pistols, three of which at the height of the tires and one in the air.
Despite this, the driver of the aforementioned “Fiat” continued driving, accelerating sharply and attempting to run over the police officers, thus managing to escape. After a brief chase, the car was stopped but the two occupants continued to flee on foot into the surrounding countryside. One of them was caught and arrested. The driver of the Punto, however, managed to disappear into the surrounding countryside. During the arrest of the aforementioned DI SARNO, one of the police officers chasing him on foot fired a shot in the air with his service pistol for intimidating purposes.
In the act of committing the crime, a personal search was carried out on DI SARNO and on the “Fiat Punto” from which he had gotten out to escape on foot, finding inside the vehicle:
1 beige bag with brown handles and inside n. 1 12-gauge shotgun with shortened wooden stock and shortened barrels (therefore a weapon altered to increase its potential to cause harm and make it easier to carry) with the brand and model currently illegible as they are hidden by black insulating tape; inside the same bag n. 1 pistol brand “Walter” model with partial reading PPK…., with single-row magazine containing n. 07 cartridges of which n. 04 32 auto brand WW and n. 03 GFL 7,65 mm. The serial number is partial as it is abrasion-marked to prevent it from being fully readable: it is therefore a clandestine weapon; also inside the bag n. 1 knife with a wooden-coloured handle with a total length (handle plus blade) of approximately 20 cm; n. 6 cartridges brand RC 16 gauge; n. 3 cartridges brand CHEDDITE 12 gauge; n. 1 cartridge * 12-gauge; no. 1 cartridge RC brand 12-gauge; no. 1 cartridge BORNAGHI brand 12-gauge; no. 1 cartridge BESCHIERI e PELLAGRI brand 12-gauge; no. 1 cartridge Fiocchi brand 12-gauge; no. 1 black short-sleeved shirt with Adidas written on the chest, collected by the staff of the local Scientific Police Office with security envelope no. 010744; no. 1 disposable white glove collected by the staff of the local Scientific Police Office with security envelope no. 004348; no. 11 cartridges of which no. 05 brand SB 7,65 mm, no. 05 GFL 7,65 and no. 01 GFL 380 Auto;

Also inside the Fiat Punto were found balaclavas, latex gloves, two large tuff rocks and a bottle of petrol.
The “Fiat Punto” was found to be stolen, reported at the Carabinieri Station of Piazzolla-Nola (NA) on 29.11.2019/XNUMX/XNUMX.
Cloned license plates had been affixed to the same car, corresponding in model and make to a “Fiat Punto”.
The material found would have been used to commit predatory crimes, most likely thefts and robberies.
All the material was seized.
For these facts, after the routine investigations, DI SARNO was declared under arrest and, as ordered by the competent Public Prosecutor on Duty, associated with the Salerno Prison, awaiting the validation judgment.
