The entire Campania regional Civil Protection system is active and operational with respect to the seismic sequence currently affecting the province of Benevento, and specifically the San Leucio del Sannio area. No damage has been reported so far in the affected area, although the five tremors with magnitudes greater than 3 were felt by the population. The Director General of the Regional Civil Protection Department, Italo Giulivo, is maintaining close contact with the Italian Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology and the National Department of Civil Protection, as well as with the Prefecture of Benevento and the mayors of the municipalities near the epicenter, keeping the President of the Region, Vincenzo De Luca, constantly informed. Specifically, the Fire Department's inspections thus far have revealed no compromised situations: 12 site inspections have been carried out, six in the province of Benevento and the same number in the province of Avellino, including the Airola juvenile prison. All tests were negative. Teams of technical surveyors from the Benevento Civil Engineering Department, activated by the Campania Region, are available to public bodies to provide support in technical inspections. The regional Civil Protection Operations Room, as usual, is active 24 hours a day. Information for citizens on best practices in Civil Protection is available on the website www.iononrischio.it.
