The Christmas 2019 – Living Nativity Scene event is scheduled for Friday, December 20, 2019, at 5:30 p.m., at the Massimo Troisi Comprehensive Institute in Naples. As is customary during the Christmas holidays, the event will open its doors to the public with its well-established and original cultural and social program.
The Institute, based in Pianura, a peripheral neighborhood with a highly urbanized territory and lacking adequate public places of social aggregation in which the school continues to play a fundamental educational and formative role, presents itself as a strong social alternative and point of reference for legality and global education, in a perspective of inclusion and multicultural reception that is increasingly complex.
The problems of social, cultural and economic hardship, induce the school, directed for many years by the very sensitive Headmaster Dr. Prof. Elena Manto, and especially the teachers, to commit themselves in a concrete and constant way in the prevention of school dropout and illiteracy, in inclusion and integration, in the valorization of diversity and excellence, in the civic education of future citizens, in the fight against crime, through strategic paths that accompany the students to understand the importance of culture in its broadest sense.

Also for Christmas 2019 the strategic path will be a theatrical performance resulting from a workshop held by expert teacher trainers, with the staging of the Neapolitan living Nativity scene in the Scassacocchio alley, between the end of the eighteenth century and the beginning of the nineteenth century. The excellent performers will be the over 100 students of the Primary School of the Ex Centrale Complex, who have been involved in theatrical activities for years, who will bring to life (again) a Naples alley, from dusk to midnight, on a distant December 24th.
An entire floor of the building, written down in shorthand by the 11 teachers with the help of numerous parents and collaborating staff, will host the Birth event among songs, voices of the people and choreographies in a suggestive and naturalistic setting, where you can immerse yourself to grasp the human meaning of love, rebirth, redemption, waiting and aggregation.
The same teachers (who have been working together for more than twenty years) and the students who take turns in the Ex Centrale complex of the ICM Troisi, from nursery school to the end of lower secondary school, always through theatrical and video editing activities, have worked with great commitment and professionalism in the context of numerous national and European ministerial projects of great importance including: Young people remember the Shoah (MIUR), I exist (Benevento Cinema and Television), Totò che padre, World Theatre Day “Writing the Theatre”, I do not forget (Valenzi Foundation), The beauty of life (Curia di Pozzuoli), Let's open our eyes (CBM Project), National Competition Progetto Famiglia Onlus, Crocus Project (Irish Foundation for Holocaust Education (HETI).
