The Carabinieri of the NOE of Naples continue their control activity in the area of the so-called “LAND OF FIRES” to combat environmental crimes related to the cycle of urban and special waste.
In particular, in Volla, during checks carried out with the collaboration of the Carabinieri of the local station, the military discovered that a factory operating in the field of "metal carpentry" with painting, welding, sandblasting and assembly of metal profiles, was operating without any authorization.
In particular, it was found that the company carried out painting and sandblasting operations without having an authorization for emissions into the atmosphere; the industrial waste water deriving from the production cycle and from the washing of the yard, where even hazardous waste was stored, was made to flow directly into the drainage channel called "Sebeto" without any treatment/purification and without prior authorization for discharge.
During the inspection, mixed waste was found scattered in various points of the yard, consisting mainly of construction and demolition inert materials, paint cans, liquid emulsions and various types of packaging, deposited in an uncontrolled manner, and in some cases directly on the ground without any protection for the environmental matrices.
Furthermore, in-depth checks revealed that the sheds and canopies had been built illegally in violation of building regulations.
At the end of the investigations, the entire company, which extends over an area of 7.000 mXNUMX, was seized, together with the warehouses, sheds and equipment.
The manager of the business was reported at liberty to the Public Prosecutor's Office at the Court of Nola for: unauthorized industrial discharges; uncontrolled storage of waste; unauthorized emissions into the atmosphere; construction of illegal construction works".
The total value of the seizure amounts to approximately 500.000 Euro.
