New year, new play. “Tossine” is the new play by Tony Laudadio on stage at the Ridotto del Mercadante from 8 to 19 January 2020. The talent of the actor from Caserta and the professionalism of the director Monica Nappo give life to a bold and humorous noir show.
“Sometimes we take our relationships for granted,” the director says in a note. “We think that the person next to us will live with us for the rest of their lives; that they still love us like the first day. Or the person next to us, the one we have chosen forever, is trying to kill us, literally!”
Tossine ironically tells the story of the relationship between Lola, played by Teresa Saponangelo, and her husband Michele, played by Laudadio. The close-knit couple is separated by a killer (Ivan Castiglione), a gentleman but a bit distracted. The comedy presents itself as an investigation into married life and the difficulty of communication. “Often the poison that is poured into the other is due to the inability to forgive or the impossibility of living without rancor” – says Laudadio – “we make the mistake of recriminating, of blaming using external agents and this prevents us from finding the cause of any hostility, reasons that turn out to be within the couple”.
A show as original as the scenography created by the students of “L' Accademia delle Belle Arti di Napoli” with the coordination and collaboration of Prof. Luigi Ferrigno. The students, participating in the rehearsals and reading the text, were able to personally create the scenic elements. From the sofa to the various clocks positioned on the wall, there are several handmade objects capable of making the text brought on stage at the Ridotto del Teatro Stabile di Napoli precious and unusual.
