Arzano. New Carabinieri raid: 150 kg of street-roasted artichokes seized. Just a few weeks after the "New Year's Eve Safe" operation, which seized approximately 100 kg of untraceable seafood and 70 kg of fireworks, the crackdown on illegal food sales and preparations in violation of health regulations continues unabated. These products are potentially dangerous to those who eat them, exposed to car exhaust fumes and obviously without any indication of their origin. Yet, despite this, some people buy and consume them without even considering the product's safety. Thus, the day before yesterday, widespread checks and seizures of street-roasted artichokes were carried out. The Arzano "Rotonda"—which connects the municipalities of Casandrino, Grumo Nevano, Casavatore, Melito, and Secondigliano—was scrutinized, as it recorded the presence of several outdoor businesses. Artichokes roasted on makeshift grills are being sold without a permit or compliance with health and safety regulations. The raid began early this morning, with members of the Benemerita police force dismantling yet another illegal stall selling these delicious roasted products. These were being prepared on dirty, open-air grills, without any precautions, and then quickly sold to passersby. In addition to the artichokes, both fresh and cooked, the equipment used to set up the stalls, as well as the cooking and packaging equipment, were also locked away, and will be sent to the scrap heap.
