Six people were killed in South Tyrol, where a car struck a group of 17 tourists. According to a police spokesperson in Bolzano, the six victims were German. The accident occurred in Lutago, near Brunico, in the Aurina Valley. Police are investigating the accident, which left several injured in addition to the six victims. After spending the evening at a club, the group was standing next to a tour bus when it was struck head-on by a car. Six young people died instantly, while 11 were injured. Three are in serious condition. Among them is a woman who was rushed overnight by the Aiut Alpin helicopter to the university clinic in Innsbruck, Austria. The driver is a 28-year-old local man from Chienes. According to initial reports, he had a very high blood alcohol level. He is currently at the Brunico hospital for tests.
