Following the Spanish Super Cup semifinal elimination, Ernesto Valverde's time is reportedly numbered. Onda Cera and Radio Catalunya reported that Valverde has been informed that his agent will be contacted to discuss the terms of his dismissal. His replacement could be Garcia Pimienta, the Blaugrana youth coach who could also lead the team in the Champions League round of 16 against Napoli. Valverde and president Bartomeu reportedly met this afternoon, before the Blaugrana's Board of Directors meeting. The decision therefore appears to lead to a change in the coaching staff. Having received Xavi's refusal, Barça is now looking to find a solution internally: Garcia Pimienta has eight wins, eight draws, and three defeats in nineteen league matches with Barcelona B. This would allow Xavi to take over as the new manager in the summer, allowing him to start calmly and plan the new season as best as possible.
