There are many messages of condolence that are being sent to the family members in these hours for the death of Giovanni Custodero, the 27-year-old goalkeeper from Pezze di Greco, a hamlet of Fasano in the province of Brindisi, who died of sarcoma after deciding a few days ago to resort to deep sedation. The word “warrior” recurs in all the messages, many of which were published on the Facebook wall from which Custodero had announced his choice and in the past had published updates on his condition. They are written by friends, acquaintances, and in some cases even relatives. For Giovanni, a former goalkeeper of the five-a-side football team, many thanks for the initiatives he carried out in life, for the courage he gave to others despite his own suffering and his condition. A local online newspaper, in agreement with the family, has started a fundraiser in his memory to support the family and all the charitable initiatives he had in the pipeline.
