The main protagonist of the fake car accident ring, busted yesterday by an investigation by the Naples and Avellino traffic police, was experienced Avellino lawyer Ciro Gioia, who, along with several colleagues, "invented" the accidents. He was the one who constructed the accident dynamics and case files, meticulously detailing every step of the way. The accidents that never actually occurred were conveniently depicted as hit-and-run accidents, where the alleged perpetrator was always untraceable. This mechanism facilitated the unjust profit. A complex system, meticulously designed down to the smallest detail, worked perfectly. The gang members each had their own role and, like in a theatrical performance, followed a precise script in which new actors, recruited by the gang members, participated. The business generated a profit of €1.5 million in just the two years of investigation.
In addition to the lawyer Ciro Gioia, originally from Naples but resident in Mercogliano for years, the magistrate of the Justice of the Peace office of Sant'Anastasia Luigi Esposito ended up under house arrest, in a case that sees under investigation (but not the recipient of a precautionary measure) his colleague Justice of the Peace Marcello De Luca, the clerk of the Justice of the Peace office Raffaele Rea and his son Domenico Rea; the same measure is thus applied to Mohamed Chamalieh, of Syrian origin, a doctor at Loreto Mare, considered responsible for having provided his professional expertise to fabricate false medical findings, documents necessary to obtain reimbursements for accidents that never occurred. And also the lawyers Salvatore and Nunzio Della Ragione, Margherita Di Marzio, Adele Di Matteo (born in 91 and 69), all considered responsible in various capacities for having participated in the staging of the false accidents.
