A massive protest has been underway since last night Judicial Police operation by the Police Forces in the “heart” of the city of Foggia. Hundreds of State Police officers from the Police Headquarters and military personnel from the Provincial Carabinieri and Guardia di Finanza Commands, at the same time, are carrying out dozens and dozens of searches and "blanket" checks in several sensitive areas of the capital in search of weapons, drugs and potential arrestees. This is a "muscular" intervention by the so-called "State team”, the operational and investigative results of which will then be examined by the Public Prosecutor's Office of Foggia as the Judicial Authority.
This is an immediate response – in terms of legality and territorial control – by the State Police, Carabinieri and Guardia di Finanza following the serious criminal incidents that, in recent days, have affected and injured the city of Foggia. The Special Units of the three Police Forces were also involved (Crime Prevention Unit, Carabinieri “Hunters of Puglia”, “GICO”, “Green Berets”, 11th Regiment “Carabinieri Puglia”, Dog handlers, helicopter pilots, etc.) also intervened in support. Entire blocks of buildings were massively “sieved”. The objective of the massive operation, in addition to reaffirming the strong presence of the State on the territory, is therefore to restore full confidence in the honest and respectable citizens of Foggia.
The details and results of this unprecedented joint anti-crime operation, which is still ongoing, will be provided at a subsequent press conference, once the operations have concluded.
