The Ethnos Club Association, in collaboration with the Municipality of Torre del Greco, as part of the "A Fairytale Christmas" initiative, presents the second installment of the "NATALARI'A" series, under the artistic direction of Gigi Di Luca. The concert "Quanno nascette Ninno" with Giovanni Mauriello will be held on January 3rd at 9:00 PM in the SS. Trinità complex, at the Ponte Morandi Auditorium. It will be preceded by the workshop "Christmas in Torre del Greco's Nativity Scene Art," hosted by the Friends of the Nativity Scene Association.
The exhibition, with free admission, revolves around the widespread need to reclaim collective memory, popular traditions and those simple values of a “community” that have been lost.
On stage with Giovanni Mauriello, founder of the Nuova Compagnai di Canto Popolare, there will be Aniello Palomba (guitar), Salvatore Della Vecchia (picks), Sara Grieco (vocals), Matteo Mauriello (vocals).
Music intertwines with poetry in the name of the most authentic popular tradition of Christmas; the repertoire is a journey through songs of the shepherds' cantata, traditional songs, tammurriate, canti a distesa, fronne, tarantellas, moresche and villanelle.
A journey through the history and myths of a land rich in suggestions, tears and joy, war and misery, emotions and colours which have always found their most immediate synthesis in the voices of the people, in the music of alleys steeped in truth and fantasy, where history and imagination blend in the allegory of verses.
