The Carabinieri continue their efforts to locate and shut down illegal bakeries, combat the use of toxic materials to fuel the ovens, and stop bread production in filthy environments. The latest result comes from the Carabinieri of the Varcaturo station, who, during a food safety operation conducted with the Naples Anti-Adoption and Health Unit, discovered an illegal oven in which bread was being baked using fires fueled by poisonous products. The 56-year-old who ran it had set up the bakery without any authorization and in an equally illegal building. The officers discovered that he was using carpentry scraps, glues, paints, and resins for the combustion. Furthermore, the sanitary conditions of the premises were extremely poor: there were several damp patches, pieces of plaster were falling, and an anti-intrusion system to protect against insects and pollutants had not been installed. The 56-year-old was reported, and the premises and equipment were seized.

In Giugliano, however, the Carabinieri fined a baker 2.000 euros because they found dirty tiles, dirt on the floors, cobwebs and damp stains in the workshops used for preparing bread and baked goods in the bakery where he works.
