Work is underway to reintroduce the “Vino di Sabato” on the local market, and then on the Italian and national markets, or the nectar of the Gods produced from the Sabato grape, a native vine from the Monti Lattari area whose cultivation has been abandoned in recent years and which the ANSENUM project (an acronym for “Ancient Semi New Markets”) aims to restore. In this regard, restaurateurs, sommeliers, oenologists, tourism entrepreneurs, professors from the Faculty of Agriculture at the Federico II University, and communication experts met in a focus group in recent days to comment on the first tasting of the wine from the latest harvest and to decide how to carry out the subsequent steps both for the refinement of the drink and for its promotion. Specifically, the items on the agenda were: production techniques, such as technological integrations; price and market of wine; communication and brand.
While it is premature to judge the characteristics of a wine from a recent harvest, those who participated in the work considered the resulting drink an excellent basis on which to work. As for the positioning of this product on the market, it was decided that it will obviously go on the menus of local restaurants, including starred restaurants, and in shops where tourists staying in the Monti Lattari area look for typical products to take home. As for the promotion of the brand, which has been identified with the name "Eroico", given that the "finished" product is not yet available, we will proceed with the involvement of tourists and curious people in educational courses that will take place in the vineyard and that will be offered both individually and in combination with the traditional "sea offer".
Donato Aiello, president of the Pro Loco of Vico Equense, the leading body of the ANSENUM project, states: “Collaboration with our hinterland is important: only by teaming up is it possible to guarantee a complete tourist offer capable of attracting wine tourists. This focus group was the first step in the right direction, that of enhancing our territory through our products and experiential tourism”.
ANSENUM was financed with the PSR Regione Campania 2014-2020 funds (intervention type 16.5.1 “Joint actions for the mitigation of climate change and adaptation to it and for ongoing environmental practices”).
