Two people were burned to death last night when their car overturned. A third person was rescued by residents who heard the crash and rushed out onto the street to extract him from the burning vehicle. The injured person was taken to San Martino Hospital, where he is not in serious condition. The accident occurred on Corso Europa in Genoa shortly before 3:00 a.m., heading toward the city center. The three were traveling in an Alfa Romeo Giulia; initial suspicions are that the driver lost control of the vehicle, perhaps due to speeding. The car then caught fire, and two young people inside were burned to death, while the third was saved thanks to the intervention of those who had gathered on the street. Firefighters and local police responded to the scene and are investigating to reconstruct the accident. Corso Europa was closed to traffic for over two hours to allow for the response.
