The Christmas celebrations, with the relative invasion of tourists in the historic center of the city, with the associated increase in waste production, but even more so those for the arrival of the new year, have brought the emergency regarding waste to the extreme in the city and throughout the region. Open-air landfills are present everywhere, creating situations of discomfort, obstacles for pedestrians and motorists, and serious danger for environmental health. In the Pianura neighborhood, in via Salvador Dalì, the manager of a commercial activity is unable to open his business due to the enormous pile of waste that obstructs the entrance to the shop.
"After the holidays, the situation regarding the piles of waste on the streets has worsened. If we don't act quickly, the situation will soon become unmanageable. There are some dysfunctions that concern ASIA, it's true, but unfortunately there is a widespread incivility of a part of the citizenry, who only live according to their own rules, without respect for others, which damages us all and the territory and for this reason it is necessary to punish the transgressors, those who deposit garbage and bulky materials arbitrarily, and seriously start a campaign of civic re-education. For the situation in Pianura I ask for urgent intervention by ASIA to collect the waste so that the shopkeeper can open his business" - this is how the Regional Councilor of the Greens Francesco Emilio Borrelli commented on the situation.
