A veritable "lake" of waste was discovered by firefighters in San Felice a Cancello, in the Caserta province, inside a quarry that had been abandoned for years. Bags, large amounts of plastic, bulky items such as household appliances, and car wrecks are floating on the surface, indicating the basin has been used as an illegal dumping site. On the muddy seabed, which reaches up to four meters deep and offers virtually zero visibility, firefighter divers are using cameras. The lake is located approximately ten meters below the quarry's surface. The operation was ordered by the Public Prosecutor's Office of Santa Maria Capua Vetere, which began an investigation, delegating the Naples Metropolitan Police following a complaint.
