Free electricity and gas market postponed to 2022: savings will grow over time, up to 23% in 2021

The latest SosTariffe.it survey has estimated that in the next two years (2020 and 2021) it will be possible to lighten the electricity bill (up to 23%) but we will end up spending a little more on gas

From January 2022, 2020, as established by the recent Milleproroghe decree, we will be able to say goodbye to the protected regime of electricity and natural gas. But how convenient is it to switch to the free market and how will the possibility of saving evolve in the coming years? The latest SosTariffe.it study has calculated the maximum convenience obtainable with the free market during the year just ended, but also in 2021 and XNUMX. And while for electricity the possible annual savings will grow up to 23%, for the gin 2 years we will end up spending even more compared to now.

Light, in 2021 we will save 154 euros

The surveys and projections covered in this study were carried out by SosTariffe.it in December 2019, with the help of its own comparator offers electricity and gas. The average variations detected since 2017 for the consumption profiles examined were taken into account. For electricity, in particular, a typical user was considered with an annual consumption of 2700 kWh, used for 50% in the F1 band and for the remaining 50% in the F2 and F3 bands.

If we consider only electricity, we realize that the typical user in the course of 2019 just ended by switching to the free market managed to save 85 euros, equal to 14% of what he would have spent remaining in the regime of greater protection. Gas in the buck of the trend: in the next few years we will spend a little more

For natural gas, the savings prospects are not as attractive. In this case, the survey took into account a typical user with an annual consumption of 1400 cubic meters. In 2019, the latter managed to save 15 euros, equal to only 1% compared to the majority protection. A minimal convenience, which will tend to decrease further in the coming years. In 2020 for example, you can still save 7 euros (1% savings). But 2021 will mark a negative record. The free market, instead of lightening gas bills, will weigh them down by very little (about 2 euros for the whole year), thus recording a negative balance on the savings front (- 0,18%).

Electricity and gas: convenience increases gradually

Finally, the study also evaluated the evolution of joint savings, therefore for both electricity and gas bills. Overall, convenience tends to grow gradually over time. If, for example, during 2019 the transition to the free market for both supplies allowed a total savings of 100 euros (equal to 6%), in In 2020, the sums that can be set aside will be even greater. In fact, it will be possible to save a lot 119 euros (equal to 7%). And also in the 2021 will continue the positive trend, with an overall saving of 152 euros (about 9%). This means that overall the free market will allow for a slight reduction in electricity and gas bills.
