The Greens of Campania are constantly working to monitor the situation regarding the waste problem in Naples and throughout the region.
The territory is seeing an increase in the number of open-air landfills and their danger, for the environment and for citizens, mainly due to illegal dumping. Many citizens report illegal dumping that adds to the collection and disposal problems and in some areas such as Scampia, Soccavo, Ponticelli, Pianura, San Giovanni a Teduccio and Barra it is creating great inconvenience.
"There are areas particularly affected by the waste emergency, such as the Pianura neighborhood - explains the Regional Councilor of the Greens Francesco Emilio Borrelli - which is in a serious state of degradation and discomfort caused by the enormity of garbage that holds the entire citizenry in check, making even the simplest daily operations difficult. There are those who take advantage of this crisis to be able to illegally dump waste and bulky materials as they please, taking advantage of the crisis. The latest report is one in which a video is shown in which a man is seen illegally unloading material from a van in the Scampia area. We receive several reports of this type and therefore, thanks to the citizens who act as lookouts with their cell phones, we are reporting all those who recklessly and despicably dump their waste illegally."
