The Provincial Command of the Guardia di Finanza of Naples has seized over 33 kg of cocaine, destined for the main "drug dealing areas" of the Neapolitan capital.
The huge load would have brought in about 10 million euros on the “market”. The drugs were “intercepted” by the financial police of the Economic-Financial Police Unit with the help of the “Baschi Verdi” of the Pronto Impiego Group at the height of the Naples ring road, in a car with a couple of unsuspecting elderly people on board, divided into 28 blocks, cleverly hidden in two handcrafted false bottoms under the rear seats of the car.
To allow unlocking and access to the concealment compartments, the driver had access to a radio frequency remote control which was discovered inside the passenger compartment.
What aroused the suspicions of the Guardia di Finanza during the road check was the evident nervousness displayed by the driver, who was found to be in possession of a sophisticated “encrypted” cell phone for “confidential” communications with the traffickers.
The same, the 59 year old Antonio Loffredo, originally from Naples, was arrested while his wife, who was found not to be involved in the facts, was reported at large.
