A 41-year-old man had his right hand amputated at the Cardarelli Hospital in Naples due to the effects of a firecracker. A 46-year-old man who lost two fingers on his right hand and a 47-year-old who suffered a torn first knuckle of his right finger were also treated overnight. This was reported by Fiorella Paladino, head of the Emergency Department, and Giuseppe Caruso, medical director of the Emergency Department. So far, 17 cases of alcohol abuse have been reported, most involving minors, two of whom were on the verge of an alcohol-induced coma. Of the 48 injured, only three suffered serious injuries that are expected to heal within 30 days, and only one person remains hospitalized, while all 47 others have been treated and released to various city hospitals. Two of the minors with injuries are from Naples, and only one is from the province. Seventeen people suffered hand injuries, and five eye injuries; The other injured suffered bruises, grazes, or burns to other parts of their bodies, especially their legs. Firefighters responded to numerous incidents, but the blazes involved only dumpsters set ablaze by exploding firecrackers.
