The celebrations for the arrival of the new year have brought to the extreme the emergency regarding waste in the city and in the entire province of Naples due to the presence among the piles of waste of remains of firecrackers, unexploded firecrackers, batteries and ashes caused by fires.
"The celebrations for the beginning of the new year have worsened the already emergency situation of waste in Naples and the province. Everywhere there are remains of New Year's Eve fireworks, fireworks and unexploded batteries, placed near the piles of waste, creating a situation of great danger even for those who have to collect. Someone thought it a good idea to leave the remains of the New Year even in front of the churches, as happened outside the church of Gesù e Maria. In short, this last night of New Year's Eve has left us an alarming situation, of danger, caused by the presence of unexploded fireworks, of degradation and of serious impact on environmental health. Now it is time to clean up and make all the areas involved safe but above all we need to radically change the uncivilized traditions of those who shoot in this way, set fire to the piles and abandon unexploded fireworks among the waste" - declared the Regional Councilor of the Greens Francesco Emilio Borrelli.
