Naples. The first serious injury from the New Year's Eve fireworks in Naples: a Roma person was admitted to the Pellegrini Hospital with traumatic injuries to his hands, affecting all his fingers. Twenty interventions were also performed for cases of alcohol abuse, ten for firecracker injuries, and three for road accidents: these are the figures for the 118 emergency services, according to Ciro Verdoliva, director general of the Naples 1 Centro Local Health Authority. "At our hospital facilities," explains Verdoliva, "we recorded eight cases of people arriving at the emergency rooms for alcohol abuse, nine for injuries from firecracker explosions, and 17 for road accidents."
