The 2019/2020 edition of “Presepiarte”, the ceramic nativity scene competition exhibition held during the Christmas holidays in Cerreto Sannita, ended with the award ceremony for the winners. No less than 72 works on display this year, a true record that testifies to the national prominence that this unique event deserves and that can only boast attempts at emulation. The competition was reserved for ceramists from municipalities registered with the Italian Association of Ceramic Cities, as well as students from art high schools and ceramic artists from the same municipalities. The competition has two main sections, plastic and pictorial, with individual works evaluated by a jury chaired by Professor Antonino Maddonni and composed of Giuseppe Zoschg, director of the Ceramics Museum of Cerreto Sannita, Ferdinando Creta, director of the Archaeological Area of the Roman Theatre of Benevento and Professor Patrizia Colucci as a member of the Cerreto Sannita Civic Museum Commission. The prize of 1000 euros in the plastic section was shared equally between Francesco Foggia of Grottaglie and Lucio Liguori of Vietri sul Mare, while in the painting section the winner was Rita Cafaro of Cava de' Tirreni who collected a check for 500 euros. All the awarded works will become the property of the Municipality of Cerreto Sannita and will be exhibited at the Ceramics Museum. The competing works whose authors have authorized the sale, were assigned through a charity auction, the proceeds of which will be entirely donated to the Association “Pandora Artiste Ceramiste” to finance the project “Pandora Ability” specifically dedicated to people with disabilities. The aim is to promote work as a tool for aggregation but above all as an expression and fulfillment of one's being. The aim is also to support the psychophysical well-being of people with motor and mental disabilities, by inserting them into a specific social and working experience in the ceramic field. “Il senso di una manifestazione come PresepiArte – ha sottolineato Lucio Rubano – è proprio quello di mettere l’arte al servizio della solidarietà. Rubano was not only the auctioneer of the works but also the master of ceremonies for the awards ceremony. The vice president of the National Association of Ceramic Cities expressed his satisfaction with the exponential growth of the event. “Allow me to thank the president of the Banca di Credito Cooperativo di San Marco dei Cavoti e Calvi, Luigi Zollo (which also has a branch in Cerreto) – explained Rubano – for having sponsored the cash prizes awarded to the winners, and all those who contributed to the success of the event. If Presepiarte is now a solid reality in the national panorama, it is also thanks to them”. We remind you that Presepiartericade is part of the fourth edition of the “Decori & Sapori d'Autunno” series, which will conclude next June with Mondial Tornianti in Tour, a two-day event dedicated to the ancient art of the potter's wheel.
