Grand finale for the Christmas in Carditello festival, which began in December with the installation of the Student Parliament and the opening of the Royal Village, and will end on January 6, after a month of events, in the name of sound and light.
The new year in Carditello begins with music, with the concert “Il nostro caro Lucio” – scheduled for tomorrow, Saturday 4 January, at 17 pm – a tribute by Donato Zoppo and the Sannio band Gli Uomini Celestia Lucio Battisti (also repeated on Sunday 5 January at 11 am).
The storytelling-concert – based on the book of the same name by Zoppo published by Hoepli on the twentieth anniversary of Lucio Battisti's death – is a real show with stories, anecdotes, covers and many Battisti classics reinvented in a rock key.
“The Christmas events in Carditello – explains the director of the Foundation, Roberto Formato – represent a bridge between the past and the future. We are working hard to develop new projects and to offer our audience quality cultural proposals”.
After debuting at the Roccella Jazz Winter Edition 2018 (world premiere and original production of the festival), Donato Zoppo and Gli Uomini Celesti tell the adventure of Battisti and Mogol that revolutionized Italian song.
In particular, Gli Uomini Celesti (from the name of one of the songs on the cult album “Anima Latina”, 1974) are a rock band born from a long-experienced formation, Lemon Haze: Sacha Barbato (vocals, acoustic guitar); Giampaolo Capone (electric guitar, backing vocals); Diego Ruggiero (electric bass, backing vocals); Simone Paglia (drums); Donato Zoppo (narration).
A journey through the music of the 60s and 70s – between the economic boom, the years of lead, vinyl, dreams and hopes – but also through the excellence of the territory, with guided tastings of Caserta wines by Fisar – Italian Federation of Sommeliers, Hoteliers and Restaurateurs (4 and 5 January, 17 pm) and typical products in collaboration with Campagna Amica. And not only that.
Tomorrow, immediately after the concert, the magic of lights and shadows will involve the audience in the suggestive video mapping show Tempo Reale. A story told through images, projected on the recently restored sundial of Ferdinand IV of Bourbon, which tells a short story about the sun and time.
“I was inspired by the wonder of the site and its extraordinary history,” explains lighting designer Filippo Cannata, in collaboration with Giovanni Coppola and Fabio Melillo, “as well as by this fantastic discovery of the two sundials. For those like me who work with light and shadow, the sundial represents an extraordinary tool, in which all the strength of shadow is manifested. Light and shadow mark the rhythm of life.”
Closing on Monday 6th January (double shift at 10am and 11am) with Befana a Carditello, a puppet show written by Giorgio Ferraiolo in collaboration with Associazione Damusa. The artist, ambassador in the world of the 1860 puppet comedy and heir of a family that has promoted this noble art for five generations, has created the new characters of Maria Carolina and King Ferdinando for the Royal Palace of Carditello.
During the events, it will be possible to visit the Reggia di Carditello, starting at 15.30 pm, organized by the Cooperativa Il Cardo.
Also expected is the participation of costumed figures from the Rievocatori Fantasie d'Epoca cultural association who, tomorrow and Sunday, will accompany visitors back to the time of the Bourbons.
Free access to concerts until seats are available, with the possibility of booking at a cost of 2 euros. For information and reservations, contact the Cooperativa Il Cardo at 340.8269777.
