“The crisis situation in which the plant finds itself is, instead, due to the behavior of the municipal administration of Naples, habitual user of all three Stir in the province of Naples, which, in the last period, has significantly increased the amount of waste disposed of in these plants, from about 850 to about 1200 tons per day – the document states – And both as a consequence of the reduced performance of the separate waste collection activity, with particular reference to the wet fraction, and of the closure of the ICM plant in via Nuova delle Brecce which allowed Asia Napoli to temporarily store the undifferentiated waste not delivered to the plant”.
Also under accusation is the management of Sapna, the company that manages the Stir, which allegedly failed to promptly identify destination sites, thus causing the Tufino plant to go haywire, which, at present, is off limits.
“Sapna – the note highlights – without taking into account the planning already carried out by each Authority and the approval of the annual tariff, has requested during the financial year and without even providing any adequate justification, exorbitant and unmotivated increases in the fee requested for disposal. This financial damage will be the subject of specific requests for compensation before the competent judicial authority”.
"It is the response to a behavior that has been going on for months, without stopping, which is seriously compromising the environmental status of the area in which the Stir of Tufino operates as well as the plant itself - explains the mayor of Casamarciano Andrea Manzi and president of Ato 3 Campania - We ask for the immediate intervention of the bodies responsible for control and the immediate verification of the conditions in which the Stir is found. It is paradoxical that the compliant municipalities suffer the consequences of those who, instead, operate in perfect autonomy, breaking the rules".
