The investigative activity, carried out by the Department of the Postal and Communications Police of Cagliari, arose from the complaint of the sole director of a company in the capital specialized in the online trade of new and used cars, whose online current account was the subject of an abusive computer access that generated a fraudulent transfer of 8.900 euros in favor of a rechargeable credit card.
The fraudsters bypassed the security level made available by the credit institution, blocking the telephone SIM card associated with the complainant's account and activating a new one at a dealer located in the Municipality of Trentola Ducenta, in the province of Caserta, on which they received the SMS with the temporary password necessary to carry out the fraudulent operation.
The Postal Police Department of Cagliari managed to block part of the defrauded sum (three thousand euros) that had already passed through a Poste Italiane current account co-owned by two of the accused.
The subsequent investigative activity allowed the identification and reporting to the Public Prosecutor's Office of the other four individuals, the final beneficiaries of the sums fraudulently stolen from the Sardinian company.
The remaining sum of 5.900 euros was also recovered through the execution of a preventive seizure order issued by the Judge for Preliminary Investigations of the Court of Cagliari.
