“Symbolically, this intervention is the beginning of that gigantic intervention that we have to do on the entire Sarno river basin for which we had nothing but papers, there was not even a shadow of a definitive or executive project”. This was said by the governor of Campania, Vincenzo De Luca during the ceremony to start the dredging of the Bottaro and Casadodici canals in Scafati (SALERNO) which was also attended by the mayor Cristoforo Salvati and the president of the municipal assembly Mario Santocchio. “Now we are reclaiming the Bottaro and Casadodici canals, then we will continue with other interventions to be done in the Lavorate a Sarno, Striano and Castel San Giorgio areas. We are working to complete the purification network and the sewer collectors. In particular, in Scafati we have refinanced the construction of the sewer network for 15 million euros. The work has gone slowly because we cross the city, sometimes traffic is interrupted. A control room was set up in September with all the interested economic entities”. For the governor of Campania, it is “a significant intervention for the city of Scafati because we are reclaiming and as you can see the canal was no longer there, it was buried, full of waste, an incredible thing”. De Luca also highlighted that, subsequently, the entire Sarno network will be completed. “You know that we have divided the intervention on the Sarno river into three lots. By the month of March we will have the executive projects that have been entrusted to the Faculty of Hydraulic Engineering of the Federico II University. We have also reviewed some project hypotheses, we have found an agreement for the mouth of the Sarno by discussing with the municipality of Torre Annunziata, we just have to wait for the executive projects to arrive and put the work out to tender. A gigantic job that was at zero and that is starting again”.
